 Education has always played an enormous role in my life, be it as an undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, a graduate student at the Sorbonne, or a professor of English at the Universite de Paris XII, and the opportunity to work with teachers and students has quickly become one of the most satisfying aspects of my business, so much so that I now devote all of June and July (as well as Spring Breaks) to school groups. It is a supremely gratifying experience to introduce young people to a completely new environment, to watch as they tentatively enter into it, and then see them reemerge with a new-found sense of adventure and self-confidence. It should come as no surprise that the focus of my business comes from the educational value of travel. The very image of knowledge as a quest is a staple of Western literature and philosophy. From Homer to Virgil, through Dante and Cervantes, Defoe and Goethe, Melville and Conrad, and on up through the most modern writers the theme of the voyage plays a central role. Travel allows the mind to innovatively explore new ways of looking at things, to open up to new horizons, to move beyond a given set of preconceptions and look at the world in a different way. Traveling is an education in and of itself, an opportunity for students to connect with varying cultures and peoples, a perfect medium for a better understanding of the world and our place in it.
As with all my tours, I personally plan and lead every trip, working with teachers to prepare a unique experience designed specifically for their students. My goal is to provide an opportunity to embrace the true culture of a country, to avoid nondescript hotels and tourist restaurants and instead stay and dine in places that reflect the character and charm of a given region. I want more than for students to merely be in a place: I want them to feel it. I work to create a different, more rewarding kind of journey allowing them to savor the many nuances of a given place by offering a more intimate view.
 Prices are determined entirely by the dictates of the client and are generally quoted on an all-inclusive basis (with the exception of lunches) so that there are no hidden surcharges, no surprises. Prices can vary greatly depending on the length of the trip and the amount of attractions included but on average are in line with those of the major tour companies. My goal, as always, is to offer you the best possible value for your money.
